The Whole Enchilada
Price: $700
Craft up to five college or scholarship essays from start to finish in two sit-down (or Zoom) developmental writing sessions. Begin by brainstorming to determine compelling experiences. Flesh out details. Commit to a structure. Hone your writing voice. Julie edits twice for content then assesses the final product to ensure correct grammar, punctuation and spelling. Students come away from the sessions with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of personal essays and are able to deploy learned strategies—a skill set critical to success in college. A Pragmatic Pen textbook is included. Students will have six weeks from the start of the package to complete it and will sign a contract stating that all work must be finished by a specific deadline.
Soup and salad
Price: $500
Julie assesses content, tone and mechanics in up to three essays already prepared by the student. Expect me to make substantial content revisions twice. Grammar, spelling and punctuation edits are done in the final read.
Dessert
Price: $80 per essay.
Julie ensures correct grammar, spelling and punctuation in the confident student’s completed essay. Expect one read.
Doggie bag
$150 per essay
Your short essay—350 words or less—is edited for content, tone and mechanics.
Taco Tuesday
$275 per session
We work our way through the four imperative hunks of the essay—map, hook, meat, treat—in four hour-long sessions. External writing may be required. These are considered remedial sessions and do not include college essay work.
The Important Lunch
Price: $50 per session
Meet with Julie over Zoom for an hour to discuss specific media strategies for use in college interviews. We'll develop both concrete questions for colleges and answers to common scenarios they'll encounter. We'll also form an "elevator pitch" that students can deploy in all kinds of interviews. Then, they complete a mock interview. Julie sits in on the call and observes. We later break down what worked--and what didn't.
**Trying to beat a deadline and need a project edited fast? I can oblige. Add $100 per essay for those requiring 24-hour turnarounds. Otherwise, all work will be returned to students within 48 hours.
